Why // 01

Because being single in your 30s & 40s shouldn't mean staying in

The Helderberg is full of people — recently single, new to the area, or just looking to widen their circle — who'd rather be out doing something than scrolling on a Saturday. Until now there was no group for us.

So we made one. Not a dating service. A social group: padel, wine-tasting, a hike up Helderberg, a market wander, a pub quiz, a Springbok watch party. Things you'd do anyway, with people who live near you and get where you're at.

SCOPE

The Helderberg basin

Somerset West, Stellenbosch, Strand, Gordon's Bay, Sitari and Franschhoek — with the occasional Cape Town day-trip.

CADENCE

One main event a month + pop-ups

A predictable rhythm so it's easy to commit, plus smaller pop-up activities through the week. Quality over volume.

INCLUSION

Balanced by activity, not ratio

We don't engineer gender balance — we let the activity set the crowd. Padel and sport draw one crowd, wine and markets another. We alternate on purpose.

Culture // 02

How we roll

Written down so everyone knows the vibe before they arrive. These four rules keep the group the kind of place people actually want to come back to.

Friendship-first, open beyond that

We lead with the activity — padel, a hike, a market — not the singleness. Some members are here purely for friendship, others are open to more. Both are welcome; you tell us which when you join.

Come solo, leave with people

Most people come alone the first time. We run a quiet buddy system — DM the admin and we'll pair you with a regular before your first event.

Verified neighbours only

Member-vouched or proof of a Helderberg-area address. Admin-only adds, no public invite links. Trust is the whole product.

Low-pressure by design

Structured activities beat open mingling. Opt-in photos, opt-in intros, opt-in everything. RSVPs are a commitment, but life happens — just tell us.

Code of Conduct

The house rules, in short

Read before you join. By requesting membership you agree to these. Reporting path is private (DM the admin) and confidential.

  1. Friendship-first. No romantic pursuit without clear mutual interest. No unsolicited DMs.
  2. Consent always. No photographing, filming, or sharing anyone's details without their explicit consent.
  3. RSVP is a commitment. If you can't make it, tell us — flaking wastes a seat someone else wanted.
  4. Be a good neighbour. We all live near each other. No harassment, bigotry, or aggressive behaviour — ever.
  5. Report in confidence. Message the admin privately about anything off. It stays between us.
  6. Verification stays. No inviting strangers, no sharing the invite link, no bringing plus-ones without asking.

Three strikes for minor breaches, or immediate removal for a serious one. One early, firm removal keeps the tone right for years.

Three steps to your first event

Free, neighbour-verified, no profile photo required. We keep it human on purpose.

1

Request to join

Fill the short form. First name only is fine — no dating-app profile, no pressure.

2

We verify you're a neighbour

Vouched for by an existing member, or a quick proof of a Helderberg-area address. One human approves — this keeps the group trustworthy.

3

You're in — pick an event

We add you to the WhatsApp group and send your member link. Come solo to your first one — most people do.

By requesting, you agree to the group's code of conduct. Your details are seen only by the admin for verification and are never shared.
