Hermanus Cliff Path Whale Watching
Free, self-guided cliff-path whale watching — peak season runs Aug–Oct. Not a scheduled event, but the standing headline day-trip for the season.
↻ Any day, Aug–Oct peak season
A friendship-first social group for single people in their 30s & 40s across the Helderberg & Winelands. Wine, padel, hikes, markets, live music, whale season — no pressure, no matchmaking, just good company doing good things, near where you live.
The Helderberg is full of people — recently single, new to the area, or just looking to widen their circle — who'd rather be out doing something than scrolling on a Saturday. Until now there was no group for us.
So we made one. Not a dating service. A social group: padel, wine-tasting, a hike up Helderberg, a market wander, a pub quiz, a Springbok watch party. Things you'd do anyway, with people who live near you and get where you're at.
Somerset West, Stellenbosch, Strand, Gordon's Bay, Sitari and Franschhoek — with the occasional Cape Town day-trip.
A predictable rhythm so it's easy to commit, plus smaller pop-up activities through the week. Quality over volume.
We don't engineer gender balance — we let the activity set the crowd. Padel and sport draw one crowd, wine and markets another. We alternate on purpose.
Written down so everyone knows the vibe before they arrive. These four rules keep the group the kind of place people actually want to come back to.
We lead with the activity — padel, a hike, a market — not the singleness. Some members are here purely for friendship, others are open to more. Both are welcome; you tell us which when you join.
Most people come alone the first time. We run a quiet buddy system — DM the admin and we'll pair you with a regular before your first event.
Member-vouched or proof of a Helderberg-area address. Admin-only adds, no public invite links. Trust is the whole product.
Structured activities beat open mingling. Opt-in photos, opt-in intros, opt-in everything. RSVPs are a commitment, but life happens — just tell us.
Read before you join. By requesting membership you agree to these. Reporting path is private (DM the admin) and confidential.
Three strikes for minor breaches, or immediate removal for a serious one. One early, firm removal keeps the tone right for years.
Real events from real venues across the Helderberg & Winelands — verified and chosen because they're good to attend solo or in groups! Filter by category or area. Express interest, and join other singles.

We keep an eye on what's happening around Cape Town and the Helderberg, so this list refreshes itself with new finds. The best ones get pulled into the calendar above — have a browse of what's new right now.
